Laura Spicer, BA, CAC II
Addictions Counselor
Laura started her internship for Certification as an Addictions Counselor at Rangeview Counseling Center in 2008. She was certified as a CAC Level II in the Spring of 2011. She runs Level II Education and Therapy groups, does counseling for marijuana use, and teaches a program that she designed called Court Readiness Training. She uses cognitive behavioral therapy with a Motivational Interviewing and positive reframing approach.
She believes that clients have many strengths and that they are best utilized in working towards personal goals. Laura doesn’t view clients as “wrong” or “bad” people, but rather as people who may benefit from having an opportunity to discover “blind spots” and explore strategies to progress toward their goals.
Laura graduated from the University of Michigan and conducted graduate-level research in the field of Design Analysis. Laura is committed to and active in her community. She is a board member of the Parent Engagement Network (PEN). She offers classes for teens through the Juvenile Diversion Program of the Boulder County District Attorneys office.
Laura resides in Boulder with her husband and their 2 sons. For relaxation, she enjoys playing the guitar and riding her motorcycle in the mountains. She is, also, an avid skier and used to enjoy playing hookey from the office with Ken Singer on Fridays, and going to the mountains to ski with him.
