Jean has been working in substance abuse and mental health therapy for 15 years. Her first experience was in residential treatment for adolescent boys in Cleveland, Ohio. Subsequently, she went on to earn a BA in philosophy at Cleveland State University. She then completed all but her dissertation for a PhD in philosophy at the University of Cincinnati, taking an MA in 1991. Since then, she has taught philosophy at Kent State University and the University of Akron as an Adjunct; spent several months in Northern Japan teaching conversational English; nannied in Boulder for five years while trying to figure out what she wanted to do when she grew up. It was at this point that she decided that she wasn’t through with higher education after all, and entered the Masters in Social Work program at the University of Denver, graduating in 2000. She worked for several years in The Multiple Offender DUI Program with Community Justice Services of Boulder County. After retiring from the County, she ran Level II groups part-time and had a private clinical practice. In October of 2010, following the untimely death of Dr. Ken Singer, the founder, owner and director of Rangeview Counseling Center, she assumed the position of Director/Administrator of Rangeview. Jean is committed to carrying on and fostering the work of Rangeview Counseling Center through the guiding values that Dr. Singer exemplified in his life. For R & R, Jean enjoys listening to music, especially blues; dancing; gardening; and reading.
